Itinerary
One of the main tourist attractions of the city of Valencia is its seafront promenade bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. A quiet area where you can enjoy the blue sea, the sun, the modernist architecture of the old port of Valencia or buildings with clean lines such as the Veles e Vents. There is so much to discover by the sea, accompanied by the sea breeze!
We will start the Tour along the Paseo Marítimo of Valencia leaving from the City of Arts and Sciences. Thanks to the cycle lanes and avenues connecting the port with the city centre, we can easily get from one place to another.
Once in the harbour we will start the route from the Clock Building, with a wonderful panoramic view of the harbour. We will continue from here to discover characteristic buildings such as the Varadero or the Tinglados, constructions where modernist decoration stands out.
We will stroll through the Marina area, which tries to integrate the leisure and culture of the maritime districts; a good example is the Veles e Vents building, built for the America’s Cup.
We continue past the Balneario de las Arenas Spa, now converted into a luxury hotel, which was once the setting for the wave baths of the aristocracy of the early 19th century.
During the tour we will get to know the gastronomy of Valencia and its port, its festivals and the way of life of its people and of all those historical figures it inspired, such as the writer Blasco Ibáñez or the artist Joaquín Sorolla, whose literary and artistic works depict maritime scenes that took place on the beaches of this neighbourhood.
We will walk along the beach promenade until we enter the Cabanyal neighbourhood, looking for modernist façades with colourful tiles and floral motifs, ending the tour in front of the Cabanyal Municipal Market. With this tour we will have discovered the past and present of this old seafaring quarter, and of the entire seafront promenade of the city of Valencia.
